Over the past few weeks here, we’ve written about many things pertinent to our belief in proper training practices backed by #science. Two of perhaps the most popular posts in this time frame were about the Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) system created by Dr. Andreo Spina. You can find them both below:
Our purpose in these two blogs were to educate people about a ground-breaking system that not only increases mobility, but helps people control that mobility as well. Together, the two blogs take you from introduction all the way to implementation of FRC into your own training.
Some of you may have already been aware that this was a sign of good things to come. Whether or not you were, we’d like to ask for a drumroll please! We are happy to announce that we will soon be offering Kinstretch classes at Halevy Life, beginning on October 29th!

Kinstretch is a “movement enhancement system that develops maximum body control, flexibility and USABLE ranges of motion” based on FRC pinciples. It is different than other methods of flexibility such as yoga or “flow” classes because we’ll educate and progress members on the foundational principles of FRC to gain mobility, and then gain CONTROL over that mobility.
Rather than use inertia or gravity, we will teach you how to increase your mobility safely and effectively by using your muscles. Remember that example of the yogi putting his leg over his head? Wouldn’t it be nice if he could bring that leg back down in a slow and controlled fashion, without using his hands or flailing out of position?
That is what Kinstretch is about. We first work on developing body awareness, and then we train end range of motion with the goal of improving your movement capacity and joint independence, thus decreasing injury risk by limiting compensations that might occur while you are doing the movements you love.
Kinstretch also expands upon the concepts of FRC by introducing some additional tools to your skill set. This consists of maximal expansive breathing, isometric movement paths, and isometric ramping. These tools teach you how to take control of your autonomic nervous system, develop more awareness of how your body moves in space and helps to decrease excessive neurological tone.
Just like any good strength training program, Kinstretch is progressed from the basic concepts of FRC to more and more complex areas. When you first begin classes at Halevy Life, you will start at a level 1 class. As we deem necessary, we will make recommendations for you to move you up to level 2 or 3. Through the consistent progression and practice of Kinstretch, you will develop more ownership and control over your body. Eventually, you might even be able to progress and do all the cool things that Dewey Nielsen and Hunter Cook are able to do on Instagram!
There’s more to come, but for now be sure to keep this link on our page bookmarked. Save the date! October 22nd can’t come sooner!
