The only thing more crowded than NYC? Jeff's mind. That's why he meditates!
When a lot of people think of meditation, they envision sitting or laying still in a completely silent room. But that doesn’t have to always be the case!
It can actually occur in a completely different setting, like a gym.
Three Ways To Meditate During Exercise
Here are three ways Jeff says you can meditate while exercising:
Get on the stair mill, put it on a slow setting, and focus on every single step that you’re taking. If your mind drifts off (as it tends to do), come back to the steps, focusing on the feeling of that next step coming.
Walk with your hands behind your back so they don’t assist you with gait. This will slow you down. Go as slowly as possible without losing any forward momentum. If possible, free walking works better than a treadmill.
If you’re not a cardio fan like Morgan, use the mind muscle connection to be mindful during your lift. If you are mindful and focusing on the contraction of your muscle, you are practicing mindfulness!
Exercise is training for the body and meditation is training for the mind. Whether you’re in the gym, a quiet setting or in the car, as long as you can find ways to be mindful of what you’re doing while you’re doing it - you’re meditating!
Try these out and let us know what you think!
